Al Staehely and 10k Hrs. PDF Print E-mail

Al Staehely & 10k hrsThe CD that you could be holding in your hand is the very first appearance of Al Staehely’s 1982 solo album on compact disc – and it’s about time. The collection of recordings, originally released in Europe on Polydor Records, has been deserving of the compact disc treatment ever since the inception of the CD. But Al’s solo album was originally released on vinyl  - just a couple of years before the compact disc era began.

SteadyBoy Records head honcho – Freddie Krc first met Al Staehely in 1976 when both playing at a music festival in Lewisville, Texas, just north of Dallas. Freddie was B.W. Stevenson’s drummer in those days, while Al was holding down the bass guitar duties for Chris Hillman. Black Eyed Peas 'Pump It' Up with Super Bowl Halftime Show PDF Print E-mail

Black Eyed PeasThe Black Eyed Peas promised a Super Bowl halftime show "packed with energy" and delivered just that at Sunday night's (Feb. 6, 2010) big game, blasting through a 10-minute set that, while intermittently marred by technical glitches, spanned the dance/pop megagroup's biggest hits and featured cameos by Usher, Slash, and hundreds of "Tron"-inspired dancers.

With the Green Bay Packers leading the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-10, will.i.am, Fergie, apl.de.ap and Taboo made a lofty entrance into the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, lowering themselves onto a green-lit stage to the sounds of "I Gotta Feeling," the Hot 100 No. 1 smash from their 2009 album "The E.N.D." Sound issues silenced Fergie's first lines and would surface again later, but the Peas' intensity never dropped, thanks in large part to a supporting cast of young dancers that hand-clapped, raised the roof and waved along with every hit.

Bon JoviBon Jovi have been touring since last February and before that, they spent a lot of time in the studio, recording their latest record, The Circle, so it should come as no surprise that once their 2011 trek ends in July, they are going to take a break.

Drummer Tico Torres told Billboard.com, “I think it’s important for us to just get away from the audience for a bit… so people can appreciate [us] better.” He added, “You also have to get away to live your life and create and recharge.” Tico suggested a few years off but guitarist Richie Sambora doesn’t think it’ll be that long since “there’s more songs to be written” and the guys want to “be the Rolling Stones.”

    Origins of Virgin Records

Quite apart from the innovative characteristics of the music, Tubular Bells has the second claim to rock 'n roll greatness. Being the first record released by Virgin Records, it was also the start of the Richard Branson empire, which has since blossomed into a global conglomerate built on megastores, airlines, railways, telecommunications and much more.
